Severian Moiseevich Dzhugeli [1] (1876 [2] , p. Chkhari (now in the Terzholsky municipality ) - August 6, 1909, Tiflis ) - journalist, social democrat, deputy of the State Duma of the second convocation from the Tiflis province .

Biography

Georgian by nationality. Born in the family of a priest of the Georgian Orthodox Church. In 1891 he graduated from the theological school, after which he studied at the Tiflis seminary. In 1894 [3] after the unrest of students expelled from the 3rd grade of the seminary without the right to enter other educational institutions. Participated in the Social Democratic movement. He was a member of the " Mesame-dasi " ("Third Group"). In 1901 he was arrested, was accused of being a member of the Tiflis Committee of the RSDLP , spent 8 months in prison at the Metekhi Prison . In 1902 he was expelled from Tiflis to Kutais . In 1903 he was again arrested for belonging to the Tiflis Committee of the RSDLP, and underwent administrative expulsion to Siberia. In 1904 he was released from exile under an amnesty in connection with the birth of Tsarevich Alexy, but after returning to Tiflis he was arrested again and only released from the Manifesto on October 17, 1905. Under the pseudonym Nemezidashvili collaborated with various Georgian periodicals, such as Iveria, Notification "," Trace "," Ray "," Torch "," Morning "," Our Opinion "and others. The journalistic activity of Jugeli began at a time when he was studying at the seminary. Member of the RSDLP, Menshevik. At the time of his election to the Duma, he owned a land allotment of 25 acres [4] .

On February 6, 1907, he was elected to the State Duma of the second convocation from the general electors of the Tiflis Provincial Electoral Assembly. He joined the Social Democratic Faction. He was a member of the Duma Budget Commission. After the dissolution of the 2nd State Duma, he was arrested in the case of the Social Democratic Faction, sentenced to 5 years of hard labor.

He died in prison.
