Biography
Born on November 25, 1935 in Meykauayan, the Philippines. After receiving secondary education at the Academy of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he joined the monastic order of Dominicans. In 1955, he received a bachelor's degree in philosophy in Hong Kong . December 17, 1960 was ordained priest . He continued his education at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila , which he graduated in 1962. In 1971, he received a master’s degree in management from the Harvard Business School .
As a priest, he worked in various Filipino organizations of secondary and higher education. He was chairman of the seminars of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), professor and dean of the faculty of theology at the University of Santo Tomas. From 1968 to 1971 he was the rector of the Central Seminary of St. Thomas in Manila. He was the first Filipino rector of the University of Santo Tomas (1971-1975). In 1968 he was appointed the first vicar of the Dominican Vicariate of the Philippines. Was in this position until 1971.
On June 25, 1977, Pope Paul VI appointed Leonard Zamora Legaspi as the auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Cáceres and the titular bishop of Elefanteres Mavretan. He was a member of the Permanent Council of the Synod of Bishops in the Vatican, the Congregation for the Institutions of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, and the Congregation for the Clergy .
September 8, 2012, resigned. He died on August 8, 2014 [3] . He was buried in Santo Domingo Sanctuary [3] [4] .
