Feng Jing ( Chinese ex. Sports career
In 2001, the Federation of Artistic Gymnastics of China decided to send to the World Championships in Gent the second composition of the national team in artistic gymnastics, which also included a young (16 years old) Feng Jing. Representatives of the federation and the coaching staff did not expect outstanding results from the team. However, in the finals of the all-around competition, Feng Jing won the gold. Thus becoming the youngest athlete in the history of gymnastics won the champion title. It is also the second time in the history of gymnastics, when the Chinese athlete wins gold in the all-around, before Feng in 1995 , Li Xiaoshuang won the all-around championship. After the competition, Feng said: “I did not expect to win a medal when I came to Ghent and after I received the right to compete in the final of the all-around. I had a thought that I could win a medal only at that moment when I took second place before my last round. ” [2]
