Christian Ferdinand Abel ( German: Christian Ferdinand Abel ; July or August 1682 , Hanover - buried April 3, 1761 , Köthen ) - German musician, violin and viola da gamba performer. The son of composer and organist Klamor Heinrich Abel, father of Karl Friedrich Abel and Leopold August Abel .

During the Köthen period, Johann Sebastian Bach Abel was one of the leading musicians of the court orchestra. It is believed that the three Bach sonatas for viola and gamba and harpsichord created in Kothen were written for Abel.
