Story
Kanji Sasahara, unable to find a suitable school club, joins the Gensiken club, which is actually an alternative manga-anime club. The remaining participants are otaku of varying degrees of involvement in the club’s affairs. After a series of comic events, Gensiken members decide to make a doujinshi .
Characters
Kanji Sasahara ( Japanese 笹 原 完 士 Sasahara Kanji ) - with the advent of Sasahara in the club, the plot begins. For a long time I could not choose a club, torn between clubs of manga lovers and clubs of anime lovers, as a result I ended up in Gensiken, which includes everything, manga, anime, and games. For a long time I was afraid of my passion for hentai, but I managed to do this thanks to the rest of the club members. Sasahara has a younger sister, very far from his hobbies, with whom he has a somewhat strained relationship.
Makoto Kosaka ( 高 坂 真 琴 Ko: Saka Makoto ) is a quiet, sweet and almost always good-natured guy. Looking at him, and you can’t say that he is an otaku, he is so unlike an ordinary anime fan. Master in computer and video games. The first guy in Gensiken who has a girlfriend is Saki Kasukabe, although he has a rather strange relationship with her. Also loves hentai games.
Saki Kasukabe ( 春日 部 咲 Kasukabe Saki ) - she shouldn't have been at Gensiken, but she joined the club after Kosaka with the firm intention to convince him to leave this otaku brothel. Kosaki’s childhood friend, in the past, did not pay attention to him, referring to the fact that he was bald. Now, Saki seems to have become Kosaki’s girlfriend, although sometimes she has a (justified?) Fear that Kosaka can replace her with games, anime and manga at any time. Otaku Saki in principle can not stand, and therefore gives the guys from Gensikena tumaki right and left. However, it is sometimes capable of unexpected actions. She dreams of opening a store, or even a chain of fashion stores.
Harunobu Madarame ( 斑 目 晴 信 Madarame Harunobu ) is the perfect embodiment of all otaku stereotypes. Tall, thin, with big round glasses, constantly quoting anime (mostly Mobile Suit Gundam), as well as refusing daily dinners to save money on hentai doujinshi. Naturally, a big fan of hentai. All the phenomena of the world of anime and manga can be given a scientific justification. Shy of sorority.
Soichiro Tanaka ( Jap. 田中 総 市 郎 Tanaka Soichiro:) - likes to sew cosplay costumes. For this reason, he once moved from the Anime Club to Gensiken, because in Gensiken he was allocated more money for cosplay. Specialist in the assembly of plastic models ("flame"). Kanako Ono is not indifferent.
Mitsunori Kugayama ( Jap. 久 我 山 光 уг Kugayama Mitsunori ) - he paints well, but is afraid to publish his drawings. Very quiet and shy, suffers from a slight stutter. The only member of the club who has a car.
Kanako Ono ( 野 大野 加奈 子 Ono Kanako ) - differs from other Gensiken girls in very long black hair and large breasts. She lived in the USA for a long time, but returned to graduate from her homeland. Ono-san is a keen cosplayer, fortunately Tanaki, because thanks to this, he can sew costumes for her. Tanaka reciprocates, even she takes her first steps in a relationship. Very shy, very easy to confuse.
Tika Ogiue ( Japanese 荻 上 千 佳 Ogiue Tika ) - in the anime first appears in the ending of the last episode of the first season. He draws well, no worse than Kugayama. Helped (one might say, spent the main work) in creating the Gensiken doujinshi, and then drew her doujinshi. He constantly says that he hates otaku and is not one herself, although the opposite is true. He claims that any manifestation of hentai does not deserve to exist, but in fact she really likes yaoi doujinshi. His shyness about interest in manga and anime hides behind ostentatious aggression and obstinacy. There are feelings between her and Sasahara, but they do not show this to each other.
Minabu Kutiki ( Jap. 朽木 тики Kutiki Minabu , [also “Kutti”]) - appeared in the first season of the anime, when newcomers were recruited to Gensiken. Then Kutiki made a drunken brawl, later he would just be ashamed to come to the club, but in the second season he will still enter Gensiken. Seeks to stand out from the crowd otaku, behaving like a complete idiot, and sometimes even like a real psychopath. He wants to find understanding friends, but so far only scares everyone off with his behavior.
Interesting Facts
Since the anime is co-produced by the Sega Sammy holding, the episodes (in particular, the opening of the first season) demonstrate the real moments of the gameplay of the video game of this company Guilty Gear , in addition, Kanako Ono cosplayed Curadoberi Jem - the character from Guilty Gear X. The Puyo Puyo puzzle also has its place in the plot: playing PoiPop, Kasukabe Saki tries to attract the attention of his young man otaku. The names of other video games, manga and anime mentioned in the series are intentionally distorted, such as Gandal ( Gundam ), Haragan ( Fullmetal Alchemist ( Japanese 鋼 の 錬 金 術 師 Hagane no Rankinjutsushi ) , Scram Dunk ( Slam Dunk ), Neko Yasha ( InuYasha .) The bicomparable Manga Festival - KomiFes (Comic Festival), which is attended by heroes, an allusion to the most famous comic book fair in Japan (Comic Market).
