Biography
At age 17, she entered the Paris Cours d'Art Dramatique , a school of acting, founded by Rene Simon . Two years later, upon returning to Italy, she received a scholarship from the Italian national film school, at the same time she made her debut in films on cameo roles.
For the theater, the actress was "discovered" by Arnoldo Foa, he decided to try it in the production of Due sull'altalena according to William Gibson , in the role in which Lea Massari was taken. Thus began the career of Marina Malfatti, full of brilliant dramatic roles.
Malfatti first appeared on the television screen in 1966 in the episode L'ombra cinese of the series “Investigation of Commissioner Megra”, then in the image of Barry Steppleton in three episodes of the RAI television series “Sherlock Holmes - l'Ultimo dei Baskerville” with Nando Gazzolo as Sherlock . This was followed by the title role in the series “Malobra”, staged by Diego Fabbri based on the novel of the same name by Antonio Fogazzaro . This work brought Marina Malfatti great popularity and allowed to alternate theatrical activities with work on television.
On the big screen, Marina Malfatti has established herself as a star of the purely Italian genre movie of the 1970s: horror films, playing the roles of demonic women. She starred in paintings At night, Evelyn came out of the grave , Seven bloodied orchids , the Red Queen kills seven times , the Black Ribbon for Deborah , the miniseries Marble Faun and others, becoming a real icon of the genre.
In the 1980s and later, Malfatti paid most attention to the theater, alternating classical characters ( Electra , Lysistrata ) with modern heroines in her repertoire, sometimes in plays written especially for her, such as La cintura Alberto Moravia and Corpo d'altri Giuseppe Manfridi . In 1990, she began working with theater director Luigi Scarcina, in productions of works by Luigi Pirandello , Bernard Shaw , Carlo Goldoni , Jean Cocteau .
