Biography
She was born May 23, 1923 in the village of Mikhailovskaya now Rovdinsky rural settlement of Shenkursky district of the Arkhangelsk region .
- In 1941 she graduated from high school;
- She worked as a controller at a factory in Arkhangelsk ;
- In 1942-1945 - crane operator of the Molotov Commercial Sea Port (ICC) in the city of Molotovsk (now Severodvinsk), Arkhangelsk Region .
- December 1945 - with the first group of Arkhangelsk port workers, she arrived in the city of Königsberg (from July 4, 1946 - Kaliningrad), where she got a job as a crane operator at the sea trade port.
- Somewhat later, she became the senior crane operator of the Kaliningrad ICC.
- She, as an experienced worker, was entrusted to operate the crane when unloading the first ship that arrived at the port.
- In 1951 she joined the CPSU (b) / CPSU .
Maria Andreevna participated in the restoration of the city and port facilities, while showing initiative and high professionalism. She carried out responsible loading and unloading operations, including the servicing of ships of the Antarctic expeditions.
In the Kaliningrad ICC, Maria Popova led the movement for introducing an integrated method for the rapid processing of goods.
Also, she initiated the distribution of new forms of work in all ports of the industry; consistently exceeded replaceable production rates during transshipment of all types of cargo.
Maria Andreevna was a mentor to young people, passing on her her work experience and knowledge.
By a decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 7, 1960 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of International Women's Day, Maria Andreevna Popova was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle gold medal for outstanding achievements in work and especially fruitful social activities.
Lived and worked in Kaliningrad. She died on April 24, 1972. She was buried in Kaliningrad .
Community Activities
Maria Andreevna actively participated in public work:
- 1956 - Delegate of the XX Congress of the CPSU.
- 1963-1967 - Member of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR of the 6th convocation.
- She was elected a member of the Kaliningrad Regional Committee of the CPSU.
