Dennison Paper Strength is a method of determining the plucking strength of paper by using special wax sticks of different tack. The name comes from the names of the founders of the American paper mill Dennison Manufacturing (now part of Avery Dennison ) Who developed this method.
The essence of the method
Experimentally selected wax sticks are heated from one end to the degree of melting of the wax and applied to the test paper sheet. After cooling, the glued sample is separated by a gap and the moment of plucking is determined in fact. Low-stick sticks are separated without breaking the top layer of paper fiber, high-stick markers work to tear paper fibers. Thus, the paper strength according to the Dennison method, using wax samples, has numbers from 1 to 18 in their quantity. Office paper usually has a serial number of 14 [1] .
