She had a special lyrical cast of mind and this personal quality determined the specifics of her work. The genre of landscape occupies a special place in her work, and her favorite technique is watercolor . N. Novikova travels a lot around the country, presenting at the exhibitions a series of works “Isyk-Kul”, “Tien Shan”, “Seliger”, “Sea of Azov”, etc. Nevertheless, most often Nadezhda writes the nature of the Moscow Region. Especially expressive are her series “Seasons” and “Fields of the Moscow Region”, on which the author has been working for more than 25 years. They are written easily, freely, emotionally. The author often shows nature in the "gray" days, in the early morning or in the evening, when color transitions become softer.

An important place in the work of N. Novikova is still life . Daisies, cornflowers, lilacs, wildflowers, poppies, apples and other plants in her still lifes are tender, beautiful, filled with a sincere sense of admiration for the author of the beauty of nature, her rich gifts.

The charm of watercolors by N. Novikova lies in the author’s ability to convey the true mood in nature, in her desire to fill the work with her own feeling and experiences.
