Church of St. Sarkis - the Armenian church in Damascus ( Syria ) was built in honor of St. Sarkis . The church is located in the old town of the Christian quarter of Bab Tuma [1] . The church has an Armenian school and the residence of the Armenian metropolitan [2] .

The residence building was rebuilt from a medieval caravanserai. In the courtyard of the temple there is a monument to the creator of the Armenian alphabet Mesrop Mashtots [3] .

On April 2, 2010, the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan visited the church [4] .
On August 23, 2013, the church was attacked. One man died. [2] On November 20, 2013, a shell exploded near the church, and children were injured. [five]
