Xerosiphon gracilis Turcz. (1843) [2] = Xerosiphon angustiflorus ( Mart. ) Pedersen (1990) | |||||||||||||||||||
The genus was described in 1843, but for a long time it was considered as part of the Gomfren genus, it was restored in 1990 [3] due to clear morphological differences (completely spontaneous perianth , stem leaves reduced to scales) [4] .
The isolation of the genus was confirmed by molecular phylogenetics [5] [6] .
According to the database of The Plant List (2013), the genus includes 2 species [7] :
- Xerosiphon angustiflorus ( Mart. ) Pedersen (1990)
- Xerosiphon aphyllus ( Pohl ex Moq. ) Pedersen (1990)
