Resurrection Chronicle

The Resurrection Chronicle is a chronicle representing the all-Russian chronicle vault of the 16th century , taking into account the interests of the great princes of Moscow in reflection of events, one of the first in terms of the wealth of materials used and the completeness of the news. Named according to the list belonging to the Resurrection Monastery in New Jerusalem .

There are 4 editions of the Resurrection Chronicle:

  • The 1st events are indicated until August 1533 , the author is a supporter of Vasily III ;
  • 2nd ends with events 1537 ;
  • 3rd (which reached us) brought to 1541 ;
  • The 4th is composed between 1542 and 1544 a supporter of the princes of Shuisky . According to B. M. Kloss, the selection of the fourth edition is erroneous, and the edition of 1541 was drawn up with the participation of Metropolitan Joasaph.

The annals are based on the Moscow Code 1479 in the 1526 edition and the Tikhonov version of the Rostov Code 1489-1503. The Karamzinsky list of the Resurrection Chronicle was supplemented from 1542 to 1552 in the Lviv Chronicle and continued until 1560 .
