- Ethanol and hydrochloric acid are added to a solution of bis [dicarbonyl (cyclopentadienyl) ruthenium] in chloroform , and then air is passed through the mixture:

It is steady in air.
It is well soluble in benzene , acetone , methylene chloride and chloroform . It is poorly soluble in petroleum ether .
