History
The history of the Adyif handball club begins in 1994. It was in that year that the team led by Sultan Mosovich Dzhankatov won the country's youth championship, and later, as a competitive team, made its debut in the First League of the Russian Championship, taking 6th place. The following year, 1995, the Adyif professional women's handball club appeared in Maykop.
The history of the Adyif team has been written since 1977 , with the opening of the handball division at the Children's and Youth Sports School-2 and the appearance of Sultan Mosovich Dzhankatov , the father of women's handball in the capital of the Republic of Adygea, within the walls of the sports school. Two years later, in 1979 , the first success came to the team of Sultan Mosovich, a victory was won in the Kuban championship, since that time the best representatives of the Maikop handball school began to be involved in the Kuban team, which became the champion of Russia, in addition, Susanna Tlebzu, Marina Yachenko and Tatyana Maltseva called up to the national team of the RSFSR. Tatyana Maltseva won the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR, and as part of the Kuban won the Cup of Cups , for which she was awarded the title of Master of Sports of international class . Galina Melnikova , Elena Rudneva , Marina Yachenko , Elena Scherbakha and Evgenia Puchkova became Masters of Sports .
1986 was largely decisive, which was marked by the creation on the basis of school No. 8 of a sports class made up of girls born in 1977. Three years pass and this team achieves the first serious success; again, the best in the Kuban are the representatives of Maykop. In 1991 , our small city became known throughout the country. The team led by Sultan Mosovich became the champion of the USSR for the prize of the Swift Ball club, thereby Maikop was clearly indicated on the handball card of the Soviet Union. The most talented generation in the history of Maykop handball has achieved hitherto unprecedented success, thereby declaring itself throughout the country. Victory in the All-Union competition affected the sports school. In 1993, the Youth Sports School No. 2 was given the status of a specialized department of the Olympic reserve - the School of Sports School, since 2001 - the School of Sports School No. 1.
1992 - 1993 - participation in the championships of schoolchildren of Russia (sixth and fourth places, respectively). With the formation of the Republic of Adygea, it became possible to participate in the Championship of Russia among the teams of the First League.
The next major victory was won in 1994 . Maykop team is the champion of Russia among youth teams. After this success, the team was renamed, since then the Maikop handball has the proud name Adyif. The next step was the participation of the team in the First League of the Russian Championship - sixth place. In addition, the representatives of the “golden” generation of 1977, Anna Kareeva , Anna Ignatchenko , Elvira Ishchenko and Larisa Sysoeva became participants in the Junior European Championship in Lithuania, where they took fifth place. Since then, the composition of the Russian national team of different ages almost always includes Maikop handball pupils and ASU players - Adyif.
The first victory of the team at the adult level came in 1995 - silver medals of the Championship of Russia among the teams of the First League were won. As a result of the season, “Adyif” achieved access to the Premier League. At the Junior World Championships in Brazil, Larisa Sysoeva and Anna Ignatchenko in the Russian national team took sixth place.
The year 1996 was also saturated. The debut season in the Premier League - 4th place, the team stopped literally one step away from entering the Super League. In the international arena, Maykop handball players were not left without awards. As part of the Russian youth team, Anna Ignatchenko , Anna Kareeva , Larisa Sysoeva and Elvira Ishchenko won the Baltic Cup, and a couple of months later they won bronze medals at the European Youth Championship in Poland.
1997 has become a truly landmark year. The name of the club is changing. The acronym ASU ( Adygea State University ) is added to the already familiar “Adyif”, this is due to the fact that the team players became students of this university, in addition, the ASU sports hall becomes the venue for the team to play home matches and the entire training process. It is Maikop ASU - “Adyif” who becomes the champion of Russia among the teams of the Higher League and wins a ticket to the Super League .
The debut in the country's top handball division also came in 1997. The first Super League game on its site took place on January 17, 1998 . With the crowded stands of the ASU sports hall, the most productive match in the history of our team was held. Unfortunately, it ended in favor of the Krasnodar “A-Elite” 41:38.
The 1997/1998 season , which turned out to be the first in the Super League for ASU - Adyif, ended. The team was in seventh place in the final table, a step away from the first six, which played medals and places in European competitions. Good news came from the exotic Côte d'Ivoire, where the World Youth Championship took place. The Russian team won silver medals. Maykop was represented by Elvira Ishchenko , Anna Kareeva and Larisa Sysoeva , who after the Championship were awarded the title of Masters of Sports of international class .
Due to financial difficulties, Krasnodar A-Elite could not continue to participate in the Russian Championship, and most of the players and head coach Evgeny Vasilievich Trefilov moved to Maykop. Since last season A-Elite won the right to participate in European competitions, the Russian Handball Union decided to participate in the European Cup of the united team called Adyif-Elite.
The first European rival of ASU - “Adyif” became the Yugoslav “Napredit”. In the city of Krusevac, the Maikop club lost to the hosts. But in the domestic championship the team achieved tremendous success. Bronze medals of the Championship of Russia are won. On June 29, 1999 , a solemn celebration of the team was held in the assembly hall of ASU , prizes and gifts were personally presented by the President of the Republic of Adygea Aslan Alievich Jarimov , university rector Rashid Dumalichevich Khunagov , chairmen of committees and deputies of the State Council-Hase of the Republic of Armenia. Getting into the top three strongest teams in the country is an achievement that no other team in our Republic has been able to surpass. Maykop ASU - “Adyif” became the sixth club, which by that time fell into the top three winners of the Russian Handball Championship.
At the beginning of the next season, changes took place in the team. At the invitation of Lada, a group of players and coach Evgeny Vasilievich Trefilov moved to Tolyatti . But, despite this, the ASU - “Adyif” confirmed that the hit on the podium last year was not accidental. Maykop is again in third place in the Russian Championship . In addition, the first victories in the international arena were won. In the 1/16 final of the EHF Cup , the Turkish Izmir was defeated twice, but in 1/8, in the sum of two matches, the Danish Fredricksburg turned out to be stronger.
In the 2000/2001 season, ASU - Adyif takes a step back. Fourth place in the Russian Championship and stage 1/16 finals in the EHF Cup . As part of the Russian national team, Anna Ignatchenko , Anna Kareeva and Inna Suslina won bronze medals at the European Championships in Romania, and the next year the World Championships in Turkey were won by our junior team, which included Yana Uskova , Natalya Tormozova and Ekaterina Sipatova .
Season 2001/2002 - again fourth place in the Championship of Russia. In the Challenge Cup, we managed to get into the quarter finals, by the way, this European cup season was the first when our team could receive European teams in Maykop . The first guests were the Turkish “Uskudar” handball players, and in the ¼ finals the German “Bukteskhuder” came to Maykop, to whom, according to the sum of two meetings, ASU - “Adyif” lost. In Italy, the World Cup was won by the Russian team . After that success, Anna Kareeva , Inna Suslina and Anna Ignatchenko became honored masters of sports . March 21, 2002 Sultan Mosovich Dzhankatov was awarded the title of Honored Coach of Russia . In the summer of 2002 , Natalya Tormozova and Ekaterina Sipatova became European champions in the junior team of Russia.
Before the 2002/2003 season , a large group of experienced players left the team, which resulted in seventh place in the Russian Championship and a relegation in the 2nd round of the EHF Cup .
2003 year. September 13th. Volgograd . The first round of the Championship of Russia. ASU - “Adyif” - “Rostov-Don”. Nothing boded ill, but ... Right at the pre-match workout, Sultan Mosovich Dzhankatov became ill, he was taken away by ambulance. Ten days later, the Trainer was gone. There was a turning point in the history of the team, which literally became orphaned, having lost its founding father. In sixth place, the team completed that season, before the end of which it played with mourning stripes on a game form. The acting coach until the end of the season was Alexander Vladimirovich Revva , previously leading the youth team of ASU - “Adyif”.
For the next two years, Krasnodar, Anatoly Nikolaevich Skorobogatov , was at the helm of the team. Seventh and eighth places in the seasons 2004/2005 and 2005/2006, respectively. In 2005, an international tournament was held in memory of Sultan Mosovich Dzhankatov, which was attended by teams from Rostov-on-Don , Togliatti and Zaporozhye . Since then, such tournaments have been held annually. The 2005 World Champion at a young age was the Russian team with Irina Pisarenko in the squad. And in 2006, Victoria Kalinina became the silver medalist of the Youth European Championship in Sweden.
After Skorobogatov’s unexpected departure, the team was led by a St. Petersburg specialist Yuri Alexandrovich Babenko . In the 2006/2007 season , the team had to play in the transition tournament for the right to remain in the Super League . As a result - the ninth place according to the results of the year. In addition, in the summer in Rostov-on-Don, the Open Cup of Russia was held. After losing to Astrakhanochka in the match for 5th place, ASU Adyif stops a step away from getting into European competition. The next season, the team takes eighth place. At the end of the championship, the head coach changed in the club, Alexander Vladimirovich Revva came to replace Yuri Babenko. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, Anna Kareeva , Yana Uskova and Inna Suslina won silver medals in the Russian national team .
Under the leadership of Alexander Revva in the 2008/2009 season, the team took seventh place, in the Russian Cup managed to break into the quarterfinals. The most memorable moment of the season was the match with Zvenigorod “Star” . On September 27, 2009, an equal score of 25:25 was lit on the scoreboard of the ASU gymnasium. Nobody believed in this result, because the current winner of the Champions League with a star roster under the leadership of Evgeny Trefilov came to visit the modest Maykop team.
The next season, the team remains in seventh place. And the player of ASU - “Adyif” Maria Garbuz becomes the silver medalist of the youth World Championship in South Korea. A tournament was also held in memory of Sultan Mosovich Dzhankatov, who gained the status of the IV Championship of the Professional League of Women's Handball of the CIS and Baltic countries. Eight teams took part.
Before the start of the season, Alexander Revva left the team, Galina Gennadievna Melnikova was appointed acting coach, at that time the ASU coach was Adyif -2. During the winter break in the championship, the Krasnodar coach Vitaly Barsukov came to manage the team. As a result, for the first time in the history of ASU - “Adyif”, the team was in last place in the Russian Championship. Both matches in the 1/8 finals were lost in the Cup of Russia.
In the 2012/2013 season, the team entered with the former coach and a fairly updated roster. This did not bring any result. As a result - one victory and again the last, this time, ninth place.
A duet of coaches from Krasnodar, Vladimir Cherkashin and Svetlana Vydrina , who, by the way, played for our club in the 1998/1999 season, was called upon to rectify the situation immediately. The captain changed in the team, new players came, but the result remained the same, again last place.
The following season, Anatoly Skorobogatov , who returned to Maykop eight years later, became the head coach of ASU - Adyif. But he did not succeed in changing the result. Again the last place in the table. In the international arena, things were better. As the head coach of the Russian youth team, Anatoly Skorobogatov led the national team to the silver in the European Championship in Spain. ASU players - Adyif Anastasia Seradskaya and Kristina Likhach also played in the national team.
Season 2015/2016 . The team for the first time in five years left the last line of the standings. Captain Olga Isachenko became the ninth scorer of the Russian Championship with 111 goals (only in 2011, our team players managed to score more than 100 goals per season). Another significant event in the history of the team also happened. For the first time, the home match of ASU - “Adyif” was not held in the sports hall of ASU . On October 10, 2015, the game with Izhevsk “University” was held at the Sports Palace Yakub Koblev and ended with the victory of our team. The result - 10th place in the Championship and 1/8 finals in the Cup of Russia. Under the leadership of Anatoly Skorobogatov, Anastasia Sieradskaya , Victoria Smolentseva and Elena Portyagina became the second at the home World Championship among youth teams. And a few weeks later, Victoria Kalinina became the first Olympic champion in the Maykop handball history.
