“Writing's on the Wall” ( English - “ an ominous omen ”) - the song of the British artist Sam Smith , which became the title topic of the film “ 007: Spectrum ” about James Bond . The single went on sale September 25, 2015 [1] . The authors of the song were Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes; they also produced the song with Steve Fitzmoris and the Disclosure group. The song received conflicting ratings from music critics, especially when compared to other major themes from the "Bond" [2] [3] [4] [5] . However, “Writing's on the Wall” was the first song from the James Bond films to lead the UK Singles Chart . In 2016 she received the Oscar in the nomination "Best song for the film."

Song Information
"Writing's on the Wall" was written by Sam Smith in collaboration with Jimmy Napes [6] . According to the singer, the demo of the song was recorded the first time, and it took about half an hour to write it; after listening to the demo, it was decided to leave the vocal part, and to add to the finished single only a few improvements to the musical arrangement [7] . The information that Sam Smith will perform a new song for "Bond" appeared on September 8, 2015; Then he said that participation in the recording was one of the most important moments in his career [8] .
The composition is written in the key of F minor , pace 66 beats per minute, the vocal range covers two octaves from La Л 3 to Re Ре 5 [9] .
Criticism
The song received mixed ratings from music critics. In a review of The Guardian, it says that “Writing's on the Wall” is trying to grab the mood for Adele ’s song “ Skyfall ”, despite the fact that, according to Smith, it took only 20 minutes to write [10] . The reviewer of The Daily Telegraph described the song as “a gigantic bond ballad” [11] . The music site Digital Spy put the song 3 points out of 5 [12] . The negative perception of the song by some of the listeners on the day of its release contributed to the appearance in the trends of Twitter instead of Sam Smith, singer Shirley Bassey , who recorded three songs for the films "Bond" [13] [14] .
