Story
The story “Kangaroo” continues the tradition of a rogue novel in which an old thief talks about what happened to him during the prosecution in the late Stalinist times ; Stalin himself is drawn into the events of the story.
The protagonist of the story "Kangaroo" is a former prisoner of Tede. His longtime sworn enemy Chekal Kidall calls him to the Lubyanka by telephone. Find out the reason for the call:
... soon the authorities will celebrate the anniversary of the First Cause. The very First Cause. Cases Number One. And by this day there should not be a single Unrevealed Particularly Important Cause. No one. Therefore, Tede is offered a choice of ten unsolved cases, one of which he must take upon himself. As a result, the choice falls on the “Case of the brutal rape and murder of the oldest kangaroo in the Moscow Zoo on the night of July 14, 1789 on January 5, 1905” [1] .
