Rail Transport

Kuwait does not have a railway infrastructure, but an increase in road traffic intensity has led to the emergence of several railway projects [1] . Kuwait should become one of the end stations of the Gulf Railway, 2,000 km of which will be connected by several Gulf countries [2] . Another promising project is the construction of four lines of the metro [3] . The total length of the metro will be 160 km with 69 stations [4] .

Road Transport

Kuwait has a high availability of cars: 1 car for 2.25 people [5] - which makes automobile transport the main one in the country. The total length of asphalt and dirt roads in 2010 was 6 608 km [6] . In the daytime, road traffic is difficult due to the number of vehicles, especially in Kuwait [7] .

Kuwait has one of the highest death rates from road traffic crashes. Each year, several hundred people die and thousands are injured [8] . In the first half of 2012, the number of fines issued for violation of traffic rules exceeded the number of registered vehicles [9] .

In the absence of rail transport, public transportation is provided almost entirely by bus routes. Since 1962, the state-owned Kuwait Public Transportation Company, whose buses serve local and foreign routes, has been operating [10] . The leading private bus company is CityBus, which serves about 20 routes across the country [11] . Another private bus company, Kuwait Gulf Link Public Transport Services, founded in 2006, serves several domestic and international routes [12] .
