History
The county was formed in 1781 as part of the Chernihiv governorate . In 1796 it became part of the restored Little Russian province . Since 1802 - in the Chernihiv province . In 1923 the county was abolished, the Chernihiv district of the Chernihiv district was formed on its territory.
Population
According to the census of 1897, the population of the county was 162 123 people, including in the city of Chernihiv - 27 716 inhabitants, in the countyless city of Berezna - 9922 inhabitants [1] .
