Alexander A. Makarevsky ( 1924 - 1974 ) - major general of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR , head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Smolensk Oblast Executive Committee in 1964-1974.

Biography
Alexander Andreyevich Makarevsky was born on January 10, 1924 in the village of Cherneno [1] of Smolensk district [2] . From the age of sixteen he worked. In 1942 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War . Participated in the Battle of Stalingrad and Kursk , the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR . Repeatedly distinguished himself in battles [3] .
After the war, Makarevsky, with the rank of guard of the lieutenant, was transferred to the reserve. He returned to Smolensk . In 1947, he was elected first secretary of the Smolensk city committee of the Komsomol . In 1957, he led the Italian delegation at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow , for which he was awarded the Italian Medal [3] .
Since November 1964, Makarevsky headed the Department of the Interior of the Smolensk Oblast Executive Committee. In 1968 he received the rank of commissioner of police of the 3rd rank , in 1973 - major general of the police . He died in 1974, was buried in the Tikhvin cemetery of Smolensk [3] .
He was awarded two orders of the Red Banner of Labor , orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, the Red Star , the Badge of Honor , medals "For Courage" , "For Military Merit" , "For the Defense of Stalingrad" and many other medals [3] .
