Vadim Genrikhovich Ostrovsky (born June 6, 1961 in Minsk, Belorussian SSR) is a Soviet and Russian cinematographer, film and television director, producer, and also has specialties as an actor and assistant operator. Laureate of the Russian State Prize of 2002 in the field of literature and art and the Russian National Television Award “ TEFI ”.

Biography
Born and raised in Minsk. Father, Genrikh Matveyevich Ostrovsky - officer of the Soviet Army; mother - architect and urban planner Lyudmila Kairis (participant in the reconstruction of several Belarusian cities, songwriter of the song “ Ogonyok .” In 1982, he graduated from the Belarusian Academy of Arts with a degree in theater and film actor. After serving in the army, from 1984 he worked at the film studio “ Belarusfilm ”as an assistant operator, director, and in 1986 entered the VGIK , directing films (workshop of Yuri Ozerov , then Irakli Kvirikadze ). Since then he has been working in film and television as a director and producer.
In 2000, he participated in the creation of the “Formula of Power” program (author and host Mikhail Gusman ) and, as a director and executive producer of the project, he worked in it for a total of more than seven years. In 2003, together with other authors of the program, he was awarded the 2002 State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art [1] .
In 2006, he shot four television films based on the stories of Victoria Tokareva : “More Important Than Love”, “Lilies for Lily”, “A Simple Story” and “The One, on Demand”. Since 2006, he worked as the director of the series " Deadly Force ".
In 2009, he staged a mini-series “ Disappeared, ” which received the TEFI Russian National Television Award [2] .
In 2011, he directed the series “Made in the USSR”.
In addition to feature films and TV shows, from 2003 to 2010 he also created a number of documentary cycles for television, as well as the series The Secret History of Art and The Collected Olympic Works .
Since its founding in 2009 to 2015, he worked as a creative producer of the White Media film company.
In 2012, he began producing and producing commercials in 3D technology, in particular for the Schwabe holding.
Since December 2015, he has been working as director of the Directorate of Cinema and TV Series on NTV [3] .
