Mazetul belonged to a family that had long been at war with the kings of the masses. After his death, Ezalka Mazetul rebelled against his son Kapussa , who had neither power nor influence. In the decisive battle, Kapusa died, and Mazetul began to rule on behalf of his young brother Lakumaz [1] .
To gain a foothold in power, he tried to conclude an alliance with Carthage and the Numidian leader Sifax . To do this, he married Hannibal's niece, and sent an embassy to Sifax for negotiations. Soon, however, Massinissa , the nephew of Ezalka, returned to Numidia. Mazetul was defeated in battle, despite the numerical superiority of his army, and fled to the Carthaginians. Later he returned to Numidia, where he received his property from Massinissa and continued to live as a private person [1] .
