In the 19th century, Aisverder turned into a military industry site, which housed several weapons enterprises: a powder and gun factories, an artillery workshop and an ammunition factory. In 1890, a chemical factory that produced acids for the production of ammunition moved to the island.
After World War II, the surviving production facilities were used for grain storage. In 1953-1990, the Senate Reserve of West Berlin was kept on the island. In the 1950-1970s, the Arthur Brauner film studio was also located on Aisverder.
After the unification of Germany, Eisverder turned into a center of crafts and art, the existing buildings were also transferred to office and residential premises.
