Biography

Semyon Girenko was educated at the Moscow Medical and Surgical Academy (from 1831 he was an official graduate and from 1834 a student), which he graduated in 1836 as a physician of the 1st department, after which he entered the service of the Naval Ministry of the Russian Empire on August 4 [1] .

He was a doctor in the 27th Navy Crew (1836), the Guards Crew (1837) and the Kalinka Maritime Hospital. Having received the title of headquarters healer in 1840, S.V. Girenko served in the naval training crew (1842) and again at the Kalinka hospital (1842). On December 3, 1846, he retired [1] .

Having entered the service of the court department on February 25, 1848, Semyon Vasilyevich Girenko was appointed duty physician on duty and rose to the rank of full state adviser (March 27, 1866). He was also a doctor at the private school of the Patriotic Society. In 1861 he established in St. Petersburg the institution " for the use of animal baths " (the charter was approved on November 29, 1861) [1] .

In 1870 he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree, and in 1873 - the Order of St. Stanislav of the 1st degree [1] .

Semyon Vasilyevich Girenko died on March 3, 1890 in the city of St. Petersburg and was buried in the Smolensk cemetery [1] .

His articles were repeatedly published in the national medical newspaper “ Friend of Health ” [2] .
