Sports Biography

Ikefeld started rowing already at the age of 2 under the guidance of his father, and from the age of 5 he began to engage in rowing slalom. At the age of 8, Casey became the youngest participant in the national cadet championship. From the age of 14, Ikefeld began to compete in the youth team of the United States. In 2006, Ikefeld became second at the Pan American Championship in singles. In 2008, Casey Ikefeld made his debut at the Beijing Summer Olympics . Ikefeld took part in the competition of twos. His partner was Richard Powell . In the qualifying round, young American rowers were not able to provide decent competition to more experienced rivals and took the penultimate 11th place.

In 2011, Ikefeld became the two-time winner of the silver medals of the Pan American Championship, and also became the second in the individual standings and the third in the competition of doubles at the US national championship. In 2012, according to the results of a multi-stage national selection, Casey beat Benn Fraker and got the opportunity to speak at his second summer Olympic Games.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Ikefeld competed in the Canoeing Singles competition. According to the results of the first qualifying attempt, Casey showed the 8th time, but a penalty of 2 seconds, received during the course of the race, threw him to 10th place. Nevertheless, this result gave the right to speak in the semifinals. However, not the best passage of the second attempt did not allow him to improve his own result, while in the final table he was able to beat three rowers, as a result of which Ikefeld rolled back to 14th place, which did not allow him to continue the fight for Olympic medals.

In the summer of 2015, the rowing slalom debuted in the program of the Pan American Games . The competition of canoeists in the framework of the Games was triumphant for Eikfeld. The American rower became the champion, both in singles and doubles competitions, together with Devin Makivan . With these victories, Ikefeld also brought the American team two licenses to participate in the 2016 Summer Olympics. In September 2015, Casey was close to his first award at the adult world championships. Like three years ago, at the Ikfeld Games in London, 2 penalty seconds were earned, which he earned during the final descent, as a result of which the American rower, instead of the well-deserved bronze medal, won only 4th place, being behind the 3rd by 0.21 seconds .
