Story

Two boys, Travis and Harrison, walking along the field, notice a police car in a small grove. At first they think that the police are watching them, but then they find that the car is empty. Travis manages to open the driver's door. The boys climb inside and start playing police. Travis accidentally finds the hidden keys and decides to steal a car. Harrison turns his attention to the empty bottle standing on the hood and says that the owner will return. Nevertheless, Travis starts the car and drives off with Harrison.

The following are the events prior to the theft. Mitch Kretzer, the Quinlan County Sheriff, arrives in the grove. He takes off his uniform, after which he takes out his body from the trunk and drags him into the grove. The sheriff dumps the body into a secret pit, and then spills a bag of lime there. He comes back and realizes that the car is missing. Then Mitch calls the dispatcher and says that his walkie-talkie is junking, and also asks now to contact him by phone. After that, he runs to his home.

The boys, meanwhile, are driving a stolen car through a country side and reaching an asphalt road. They knock out the locked gates with the help of a car and drive onto the highway. Strange pirouettes of a police car are noticed by Bev, a woman driving towards. Boys traveling in the opposite lane nearly crash into it.

The sheriff finally reaches the parking lot, where, using laces and patience, he steals a car. On the way through the city, he is stopped by a policeman on a motorcycle. Mitch calls the dispatcher and reports the suspect he is allegedly observing. Bev stops at a roadside cafe and tells the police who are there about the car she saw on the highway. The sheriff finally gets to his home, where his pickup truck with another walkie-talkie stands. The dispatcher calls him and reports that they have information about the stolen police car, which is driven by ten-year-old children. Kretzer convinces the dispatcher that this is a false signal and asks, in connection with “radio communication problems”, to temporarily switch all the police in the district to a different frequency. After the old channel becomes free, he tries to talk to the boys, but they do not respond. At this time, the boys, standing on the sidelines, play with a police tape. Travis tries to check the body armor found in the car by putting it on Harrison, but, fortunately, he cannot remove the M4 from the fuse. He thinks that the ammunition in the machine has run out and goes to the car to find them. Harrison hides the sheriff's gun in his jacket pocket. Upon reaching the car, Travis hears the sheriff’s words that hijacking a police car is a criminal offense and it would be better if the boys just return the car to the owner. Harrison wants to drop the car. At this moment, the boys hear a noise from the trunk and, opening it, find the man in the blood. He assures them that the sheriff is a criminal, and asks him to be released. Kretzer at this time gets rid of drugs at home. A man freed by the boys, threatening with a weapon, makes them contact the sheriff and tell him his whereabouts. Mitch says the boys did the right thing, after which he pulls the money out of the Uzi stash and leaves.

Having put the boys in the back seat, a man from the trunk finds a place to shoot. The sheriff arrives at the place and approaches the car. Talking with the boys, he realizes that something is wrong, and hides behind the car. The woman, whom the boys nearly encountered on the road, also drives up to this place. She approaches the car and notices the sheriff, who tells her that he was injured and asks for help to find the keys on the other side of the road. When a woman notices a man hiding from the trunk, he shoots her. A shootout ensues, during which the sheriff and the man fall into each other and fall unconscious. The boys manage to get out of the car by shooting a window from a pistol, but the first bullet ricochets injures Travis. Harrison gets behind the wheel and drives off with Travis in the back seat. At this time, the sheriff comes to his senses and tries to catch up with them in his car, but crashes into a cow. Harrison goes to the city and, having heard the controller on the walkie-talkie, asks for help.
