Career

Liu Huihui was born in 1989 in Changyuan County (which was part of the Xinxiang City District at that time), where she started javelin throwing as a teenager. In 2005, she became the fifth in the national youth championship. Having entered the university in 2007, Lu Huihui stopped her sports performances until 2010.

In 2012, she became one of the leaders in world javelin throwing . In the first start of the season, throwing a spear at 63.78 meters, she improved her previous personal record by more than five meters. At the next start, with a result of 64.95 meters, Lu was able to break the Asian record, which held for 11 years [2] . Taking second place at the national grand prix in Dalian , with a score of 64.86, the athlete entered the Chinese delegation to the 2012 Olympic Games [3] .

Despite the fact that she never played in major international tournaments, throwing a spear at 64.45 in the qualification of the Olympics , she entered the final Games throwing tournament from fifth place, where she finished fifth with a score of 63.70.

The year 2013 began with a record in Asia, this time at the national competition in Zhaoqing, throwing a spear at 65.62. On April 27, 2014, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) announced that illicit drugs were found in a doping test taken in 2013 , which led to the annulment of the results and the athlete was suspended for 1 year - from April 27, 2013 to April 26 2014 year .

At the 2015 World Athletics Championships in Beijing , Liu Huihui, throwing a spear at 66.13 and thereby renewing her Asian record again, was the leader of the competition until the very last attempt. However, her rival, German Katarina Molitor , threw a spear at 67.69 with her last attempt, thereby showing the eighth result in the history of javelin throwing and winning a gold medal. Liu Huihui became the silver medalist of the championship.

At the pre-Olympic world championship , which took place in Qatar in 2019, the Chinese athlete in the javelin in the final became the third, showing the result of 65.49 m and became the bronze medalist of the world championship [4] .
