The men's single canoe rowing competition at a distance of 1000 meters at the first European Games was held on June 14 and 15 . 14 athletes from 14 countries took part. Competitions were held in the city of Mingechevir on the basis of the Olympic training and sports center "Cur"
German rowing champion Sebastian Brendel won the rowing competition. The second place went to the Czech athlete Martin Fuchs , and the third was the champion of the Games in Beijing in this discipline Hungarian Attila Wajda .
