Amira bint Aydan bint Nayef at-Tawil al-Otaibi ( Arabic Better known as Princess Amira al-Tawil ( born Princess Ameera al-Taweel ) in English-language media [1] . Vice-Chairman of the Alwaleed Philanthropies Charitable Foundation, member of the Board of Trustees of the Qatari social organization Silatech.

Early biography

Born on November 6, 1983 in Riyadh , the capital of Saudi Arabia [2] .

Father - Aidan bin Nayef at-Tawil al-Otaibi.

The future princess was raised by her divorced mother and grandparents in Riyadh.

Personal life

At the age of 18, she met Prince Al-Walid ibn Talal , the nephew of the then King of Saudi Arabia, Fahd , when she was interviewing a school newspaper [2] . Prince is older than Amira by 28 years. After 9 months after they met, the prince and Amir had a wedding [3] , in November 2013 they were divorced [4] .

Education

Graduated with honors from the University of New Haven with a degree in business administration [2] .

Humanitarian activities

As vice chairman and head of the executive committee of the Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation in Saudi Arabia and the Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation - Global (now known as Alwaleed Philanthropies) [3] [5] , chairman of Time Entertainment [4 ] Princess Amira has addressed a wide range of humanitarian issues in both Saudi Arabia and around the world. The Foundation is an international non-profit organization that supports programs and projects aimed at combating poverty, eliminating the effects of natural disasters, interfaith dialogue and empowering women.

As chairman, the Kingdom Holding Company travels on behalf of the Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation in an attempt to better understand the most pressing issues facing the world. She visited more than 70 countries of the world, her missions are also aimed at improving the image of a Saudi woman [2] .

She opened the “Alwaleed Bin Talal Village Orphanage” in Burkina Faso [6] , during her trip to Pakistan she was engaged in providing assistance to flood victims in the country and supporting education [2] . Together with Prince Philip , Duke of Edinburgh, also officially opened the Center for Islamic Studies of Prince Al-Walid Ibn Talal at the University of Cambridge [2] , where she accepted the award for outstanding charitable activities from Prince Philip [7] . Subsequently, she headed a relief mission in Somalia, where she and her former husband, Prince Al-Walid ibn Talal, oversaw the distribution of the fund’s assets.

She has publicly spoken in a number of American media in support of giving women the right to drive a car in Saudi Arabia, as well as wider empowerment in Saudi society [2] [8] [9] . Amira took part in the special session “Voices of Change in the Middle East and North Africa”, organized in 2011 by the Clinton Foundation , where she discussed her views on the processes in this region with former US President Bill Clinton [10] .
