The canton was formed as a result of the 2015 reform [1] .
Canton Composition since March 22, 2015
The canton consists of communes (population according to the National Statistics Institute for 2014 ):
- Villers-Saint-Paul (6,425 people)
- Kofri (2,468 people)
- Leneville (4 251 people)
- Monshey-Saint-Eloy (2,146 people)
- Monieville (1,540 people)
- Nogent-sur-Oise (19,231 people)
Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, residents of the canton gave Marine Le Pen in the 1st round 27.6% of the vote against 25.7% from Jean-Luc Melenchon , 20.1% from Emmanuel Macron and 11.1% from Francois Fillon ; in the 2nd round, the canton was defeated by Macron, who received 58.8% of the vote. (2012 Round 1: Francois Hollande - 36.5%, Marine Le Pen - 21.6%, Nicolas Sarkozy - 18.6%; Round 2: Hollande - 60.2%).
Since 2015, the canton of the Council of the Department of Oise is represented by the mayor of the city of Lenieville, Christophe Dietrich and Gillian Roux (both are Republicans ).
