Tonino Benacquista ( French: Tonino Benacquista ; born September 1, 1961 in Choisy-le-Roi , a suburb of Paris ) is a French novelist and screenwriter.

Born in a family of Italian immigrants. From childhood he became interested in literature and cinema . He worked as a night watchman in the museum, the conductor of the train "Paris-Rome", as a decorator. He drew inspiration from his work for his future novels.
He published his first novel at the age of 24. Subsequent works were awarded several literary prizes. The most successful was his novel The Saga (1997), for which Benaquista was named the author of the year by readers of Elle magazine .
He started writing scripts for television series back in the late 1980s, but Benakvist became a real success as a screenwriter in 2002 , when he, along with Jacques Odiar, received the César Award for the screenplay of the film “ Read on the Lips ”.
