Group history

The first composition of the “Brilliant” group was officially formed in 1995, and it included Olga Orlova , Polina Iodis and Varvara Koroleva [1] . In March 1996, Varvara left the group and was replaced by Irina Lukyanova [2] , and in May 1997, the fourth member was Zhanna Friske , who worked as an artistic director [3] . Thus, the group becomes a quartet [4] . This composition lasted until 1998. In November 1998, the group left Pauline Jodis. Until August 1999, the team was in the form of a trio [1] . In August 1999, Ksenia Novikova , a former soloist of the Class group, took her place [5] . The image of the group has changed: from “caustic acid flowers to mature sexuality” [6] .

In November 2000, Olga Orlova had to leave the team due to her pregnancy [7] . Orlova was the main vocalist and author of many songs of the group [8] . After her departure from the collective, vocal parts began to be divided between all members of the group [9] [10] . In the fall of 2001, a new soloist, Yulia Kovalchuk , was presented, which the band had before at a dance station [11] [12] . Before the arrival of Julia, it was assumed that a certain girl named Masha [13] [14] would appear in the group. Her debut was supposed to take place in the video for the song “White Snow”, but she never became a soloist and did not appear in the video [10] . Consequently, only Jeanne, Ksenia and Irina were in the group [15] . In early 2003, Irina Lukyanova left the group due to pregnancy [16] . Until March 2003, the group performed as part of Novikov-Friske-Kovalchuk, until Anna Semenovich joined them [17] . In the autumn of the same year, Jeanne Friske left the group, who decided to pursue a solo career [18] . The group remains in a truncated composition [19] [20] .

In 2004, Ksenia, Julia and Anna were joined by Nadezhda Ruchka, a former Party member [21] . In March 2007, the place of Anna Semenovich in the group was taken by the ex-soloist of the Strelka group Anastasia Osipova [22] . The line-up was presented on March 2 at the “Baboon Riot” concert in “ Luzhniki ” [23] . In the same year, Ksenia Novikova leaves the group [24] [25] , which was replaced by Natalia Asmolova in the summer [26] . However, after three months, Asmolova had to leave the group, as the girl was hiding from her producers her photo shoot for the Maxim magazine [27] [28] .

In October 2007, a new participant, Natalia Friske, the younger sister of Jeanne Friske, was presented at the MTV RMA 2007 award [29] . On December 31, 2007, after the contract expired, Julia Kovalchuk left the group [30] . After Julia left, a casting was held [31] . At the beginning of 2008, Anna Dubovitskaya took the place of Yulia Kovalchuk, and Yulianna Lukasheva took the place of Natalya Friske [32] [33] . Initially, the place of Natalia Friske was to be taken by model Nadezhda Kondratyeva [34] [35] , but for some reason she did not become a soloist. In November 2009, Lukasheva announced her retirement [36] . On November 28, Marina Berezhnaya was presented at the Golden Gramophone as the new soloist of the group [37] . This composition lasted until the summer of 2011.

In June 2011, Ksenia Novikova returned to the team [38] . This composition lasted only 3 months. Soon, due to pregnancy, Anna Dubovitskaya leaves the group [39] . The producers could not find a replacement for her [40] , and the girls continued to perform in four. The composition of Novikov - Ruchka - Osipova - Berezhnaya is the longest in the history of the group. In June 2015, Anastasia Osipova announced her resignation from the group. In her place in the group returned Natalia Asmolova. In October, Ksenia Novikova announced her resignation. The group also left Natalia Asmolova [41] . On October 16, a presentation of the updated composition took place [42] . The new participants were Silvia Zolotova and Kristina Illarionova. In June 2017, Nadezhda Ruchka went on maternity leave. For some time at concerts Hope was replaced by Natalia Asmolova. In August, Nadezhda gave birth to a son and announced that she would not return to the group [43] . In May 2018, Ksenia Novikova returned to the team for the third time [44]

Explanation

  • Olga Orlova left the group in November 2000, after filming the video for the song "White Snow", although her contract ended in August [8] .
  • In September 2013, instead of Nadezhda Ruchka, Natalia Asmolova performed at concerts, as Ruchka took part in the Ostrov project [45]
  • Ksenia Novikova announced her second resignation from the group in October, but left the team in January 2016, after speaking at the Golden Gramophone Prize and New Year's performances [46] .

Golden Composition

There are several options as to which composition is considered “gold”. In 2011, Woman.ru considered the Friske – Novikov – Kovalchuk – Semenovich structure to be “golden” [48] . According to some other sources, the composition of Novikov – Kovalchuk – Semenovich – Ruchka is considered to be such a composition [49] . Also called “gold” is the composition of Orlov – Iodis – Lukyanov – Friske , in which the group gained fame [50] .

In 2013, Express Newspaper, publishing an interview with Irina Lukyanova, called the composition of Orlov - Lukyanov - Friske - Novikov “golden” [9] .

Former Soloists and Their Further Fate

The subsequent fate of the former soloists, after leaving the group, developed differently [51] . Olga Orlova after leaving the group began a solo career as a singer and actress. Zhanna Friske, Anna Semenovich and Julia Kovalchuk also took up their solo projects. In 2015, Jeanne Friske died of a brain tumor [52] . Ksenia Novikova took up a solo career and for some time was a soloist and producer of her own pop group [53] . Polina Iodis surfed [54] , and Irina Lukyanova devoted herself to family and choreography [9] .
