History
Probably the name of the village comes from the word " bast " - the bast of young linden and other deciduous trees [3] [4] ; used for weaving bast shoes, baskets and other products.
From the scribal book of 1650–1652, it is known about the village of Lychnoe, which was part of the Ilovaisky camp of the Kozlovsky (now Michurinsky) district of the Tambov province; Later, the village passed from the province to the province, from the county to the county due to changes in the administrative-territorial division of the Tambov and Ryazan provinces so that in the statistical compilations of the second half of the XIX century one can find references to the village Lychnoe as a village in Ranenburg (now Chaplygin) District Dubovskoy (large neighboring village - Oak) of the Ryazan province volost [5] .
In the cover book of 1676 there is the only mention of the wooden church of the Great Wonderworker Nicholas in the village Lychnoe
That church has a clerk's yard, Iwaschki. In that church of the earth there are 20 ceti in the field, and in two of them, hay mowings for 40 kopins. The land and meadows of the great sovereign have a salary, and there is no other land, in the parish to that church: 57 yards of the boyar children, 12 yards of the Bobyla, and only 77 yards.

Beyond the village of Lychnoe, on the very border with the Lipetsk Region, is the holy spring of St. Nicholas (spring) [6] .
