Russian Internet Forum, RIF - the annual forum of Runet figures. This is one of the main professional events of the Russian Internet industry , held since 1997 .
The main organizer is the non-profit organization “ Russian Association of Electronic Communications ” (RAEC), other organizations are also involved in the work, including commercial and state ones, primarily the Federal Agency for Mass Communications of the Russian Federation ( FAPMK ).
The RIF is held every year, in 2003 two parallel versions took place - the “main” Moscow and the Urals (in Perm ). Traditionally, the main venue is the boarding house "Forest Dali" of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation in the village. Gorki-10 of the Odintsovo district of the Moscow Region . Since 2006, the All-Russian Internet Marathon , a series of deliberative events in more than 10 major Russian cities, has also been held as part of the RIF.
For ten years, the RIF has become a familiar meeting place for a certain “party” that forms the conditional “Runet elite” and its communication with new (primarily regional) Internet users.
The organizers position the event as "a recognized forum of professionals in the field of information technology" and "a powerful tool to popularize high technologies among end users in Russia." Forms of work - sectional meetings and round tables, master classes and poster presentations, trainings and presentations, as well as backstage events.
In the second half of the 2000s, several parallel events arose with similar goals, the most notable of which was the Internet and Business Conference (CIB). Both the RIF and the CIB are readily visited by Internet activists and covered by the Internet press . Subsequently, RIF and KIB merged under the brand of “RIF + KIB”.
On April 3, 2008, the 12th RIF was opened by the elected president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev .
