V. D. Goppa was engaged in research of connections between algebraic geometry and coding theory and described the corresponding class of linear codes. Now these codes are called Goppa codes . [3] His results in this field were first presented in 1981 at the Moscow State University . In 1972, he was awarded the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Information Technology Problems Society for his work, A New Class of Linear Correcting Codes. [4] . Developed an algebraic approach to information theory [5]
