Oxyethira amieu (Latin) is a species of small caddis of the Oxyethira genus from the Hydroptilidae family. Endemics of Oceania [1] .

New Caledonia Island, Chute, ~ 15 km north of Col d'Amieu, on the road La Foa – Canala Rd [1] .
Description
The caddis are of small size, the length of the wings is 1.4 mm, the VIIth abdominal sternite with a short apico-mezal spur, the antennae of males consist of 22 segments, the wings are narrow, covered with hairs. The number of spurs on the front, middle and rear legs is 0, 3 and 4, respectively. The mandibular palpi of females and males consist of 5 segments (the first two segments are short). Larvae live at the bottom of water bodies of different types, algophagi. It was first described in 2015 during a generic audit conducted by entomologists A. Wells ( Alice Wells , Australian Biological Resources Study, Canberra , Australia ) and C. Johanson (Swedish Museum of Natural History, Stockholm , Sweden ). The name amieu is given by the place of the first detection of type specimens (Col d'Amieu) [1] .
