Initially, it was Pevsky Lane . The name, which appeared in the middle of the XVIII century, is due to the fact that court singers lived here.
September 4, 1919 the lane was renamed; it became Kustov lane - in honor of A.O. Kustov, a revolutionary, deputy chairman of the Detskoselsky city council in 1918-1919.
On May 23, 1949, the lane was again renamed - Lyceum, since the building of Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum is located in the lane. The renaming was timed to the 150th anniversary of the birth of A. S. Pushkin, who studied at this lyceum [1] .
Development
The even (western) side of Lyceum Lane is occupied by Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum and Lyceum Garden. The odd (eastern) consists of three architectural monuments - the house of Engelhardt [2] (No. 1/4), the singing wing of the Tsarskoye Selo Palace Board [3] (No. 5) and the House of the Palace Board [2] (No. 1-3/8 in the Middle street). In the courtyard is the Singing Water Tower [4] , reconstructed as a restaurant [5] (No. 7).
