Colt Paterson (1836)

The revolver was named after the city where the Colt manufactory was deployed, but soon acquired the nickname "Texas" for its popularity among residents of this state. The beginning of production in 1836. The first Colt revolver model. Five-shot. The most popular was 36 caliber, the largest in this model, with a barrel length of 190 or 230 mm. Colt Walker (1847)

He was named after the customer of a large batch of a thousand “colts” of improved design captain Texas Rangers S. Walker. The production began in 1847 , the first batch was made to order by the US Army , which then participated in the Mexican-American War . Colt Walker is a six-shot 44- caliber revolver with a total length of 390 mm with a barrel length of 230 mm and advanced trigger mechanism and trigger guard. Colt Dragoon (1848)

The Colt Model 1848 Percussion Army Revolver is a .44-caliber revolver developed by Samuel Colt for the US Army's Mounted Rifles, also known as dragoons. This revolver was designed to solve the many problems faced by the Walker.

Colt Dragoon differed from Walker colt in that it was lighter, he had a ramrod lock.

The new revolver appeared after the Mexican-American War and continued to be popular among civilians during the 1850s and 60s, and was used during the Civil War in the United States.

A naval colt of 1848 was also issued (the more popular model of 1851). It was, in fact, a slightly reduced and modernized copy of the Dragoon Colt. It is not easy to visually distinguish them, but there are differences. For example, the trunk of a naval colt is octagonal and slightly longer, and that of a dragoon colt is round and shorter; naval colt is slightly lighter than dragoon; in the naval colt the back of the ramrod is less massive than in the dragoon.

Colt Wells Fargo (1849)

The success of the Colt revolver model of dragoons provided the company with the financial stability necessary for further work on the development of the lineup. By the end of the 1840s, the demand for personal weapons of smaller weight and size, suitable for covert carrying, had grown significantly.

In 1849, Colt's response to demand was the creation of a .31 Wells Fargo capsule revolver. These were the days of the Gold Rush and the development of the Wild West. The lighter construction of a smaller size was appreciated by both prospectors and first settlers, even despite the very limited stopping power of the bullet. The model became popular as an auxiliary weapon of lightly armed officers, detectives and security guards, that is, those who especially needed weapons that are easy to hide in a holster or in a clothing pocket.

Despite the name of the model, there is no historical evidence that this revolver was ordered or used by Wells Fargo, although it was probably used by some of its security personnel.

The design is largely identical to the 1849 Pocket Revolver, but does not have a lever ramrod under the barrel. This feature contributed to the secrecy of wearing and provided unhindered extraction from the pocket. The axle of the drum, which had a special end recess, served as a ramrod when equipping the drum.

In total, about 4,000 Wells Fargo revolvers of the 1849 model were produced. Some of them went their way to the battlefields of the Civil War, where they were used by volunteers. In historical documents there are references to light revolvers that were used by the Pony Express postal service employees in 1860-1861, as well as coach coachmen as auxiliary firearms ^[1] .

Colt Navy (1851)

The model was intended for arming the officers of the Navy of the North American United States . It was essentially a smaller version of the Dragoon Colt. On such revolvers one could find engraving in a nautical theme. Interestingly, the naval Colt did not have a fly; they say that it is not necessary to aim at the sea and on a ship. Navy Colt is relatively lighter and smaller, although it still had considerable size. It is difficult to visually distinguish a naval colt from a dragoon colt. He fired 36-caliber bullets. One of Colt's most popular revolvers in the 1850s. Like all Colt revolvers, it was pretty easy to understand, and if necessary, it was possible to take the missing part from another colt. However, he had one drawback - extreme insecurity. With regular use, the drum mounts began to break apart, and the arrow had to be held with his left hand when firing, in order to avoid the release of powder gases out, so as not to injure his hand. And, realizing his mistake, Colt began to sell individual revolving drums that could be freely purchased. The revolver was very popular not only among military personnel at sea, but also among civilians on land.

Two such 36-caliber revolvers were armed with Wild Bill Hickock .

Colt Army (1860)

This was perhaps the most popular weapon in the Civil War . This revolver was loaded from the front of the drum with a ramrod , so that the shooters had to carry paper cartridges with them. In order to avoid spontaneous firing, it was recommended to keep the drum chamber located opposite the barrel empty. The reloading was carried out due to the alternate laying of charges, as, indeed, any other capsule weapon. The revolver replaced the third "Dragoon" Colt (Colt Dragoon). Its cost was about 13 dollars , which is more expensive than the rest of the revolvers of that time. A single-action revolver, although there were alterations of this revolver into a “self-cocking” one. Perhaps the main competitor of the army colt was the ringtone of 1858 - since the ringtone had a much higher reload speed, and the probability of a spontaneous shot was much lower.

Colt Single Action Army (Peacemaker) (1873)

The legendary Wild West revolver. The appearance has remained unchanged since 1873. Colt company halted its production twice, but resumed due to high demand and still produces. A six-shot colt with a manual cocking trigger, a single-shot trigger mechanism , although it was possible to shoot quite quickly from it, cocking the trigger with his left hand. Despite the presence of six chambers, the pistol was usually loaded with five rounds of ammunition - the chamber opposite the barrel was left empty to avoid an involuntary shot of a weapon. Available for cartridges of more than 30 calibres, from 0.22 to 0.45, with different barrel lengths. Equipped with a side rod ejector. It also has 2 more names: Colt single action army (abbreviated Colt SAA) or Colt 1873. Peacemaker is just a revolver nickname. It is considered one of the symbols of the "Wild West", as almost everyone used it, including the legendary man Wyatt Earp . Individual arrows carried it with them in duplicate. The reloading was carried out very simply and at the speed that the shooter is capable of - the trigger was half-cocked, the drum door opened, with the help of a side extractor the cartridge was removed from the drum, then the drum itself was rotated and so on 6 times. In the end, it was necessary to close the door of the drum, or cock the trigger in a fighting position or put it on the fuse.

Colt Detective Special (1927)

All-in carbon steel short-barreled six-shot revolver with double-action trigger mechanism. As the name implies, weapons of this class are aimed at hidden carrying and use mainly by policemen, dressed in civilian clothes - by detectives, as well as by special services. First introduced in 1927, the revolver was not similar to other models of concealed small arms that existed on the market at that time, which had a tipping frame and could fire low-powered cartridges or had more revolvers with a shortened barrel and handle.

Colt Cobra (1950)

The beginning of production in 1950. The design of the Colt Cobra revolver is based on the D-frame, the base for the entire Detective Spec. Family, but is made of a lighter aluminum alloy. The revolver, like the main Detective Spec., Was made for firing a .32 Colt NP, .38 Colt NP and .38 Spl caliber cartridge , as well as .22LR . The version for the cartridge .38Spl was made in versions with a barrel length of 2, 3 and 4 inches ^[2] , the version for the cartridge .22LR - only with a three-inch barrel ^[3] .

Since 1973 (the launch of the second Cobra series was associated with it), revolvers were produced only under the .38Spl cartridge, and an extractor rod case was added to the bottom of the barrel of the revolver. Production ceased in 1981 ^[2] .

In general, it is a reliable and high-quality weapon for self-defense, police and security agencies.

Colt Mk. III Trooper Lawman (1969)

Revolvers of the American company Colt mk series. III were first released in 1969, and represented a significant step forward in comparison with the earlier revolvers of this company, which practically did not change their designs from the beginning of the 1900s. All revolvers of the mk family. III had a double-action trigger and a 6-round drum that leans to the left.

The main design features of the Colt mk.III series revolvers:

the drummer is located not on the trigger, but in the frame (for the first time in Colt revolvers such a design appeared on the Pyton and Trooper models in 1953); the trigger can transfer the energy of its strike to the hammer only if there is a safety transfer rod between them that is raised when the trigger is pulled. The drum rotates clockwise (when viewed from the rear); due to this, the dog rotating the drum presses it against the frame, providing a more reliable positioning of the drum relative to the barrel. All mechanism springs are made of stainless steel.

The mainspring is made of a twisted cylindrical instead of the previous plate L-shaped, and is located on the guide rod.

All working surfaces of the mechanism are heat-treated to harden and increase the service life. The drum rotation mechanism is designed in such a way that when the cock is cocked, the dog rotating the drum blocks its opening or closing. Thus, the revolver can be charged, discharged or examined only when the trigger is pulled.

Colt Anaconda (1990)

Colt M1900 (1900)

M1902 Sporting was produced from 1902 to 1907, a total of about 6.927 units.

Colt M1903 Pocket Hammer (1903)

M1903 Pocket Hammer ("pocket trigger") appeared after the M1902 model, but was based on the design of the M1900, differing from it only in shorter length. Like the M1900, it had a magazine for 7 rounds, there was no slide delay. Has a cocking platoon. M1903 Pocket Hammer far outlived its "older brother" M1900, being in production until 1927.

Colt M1903 Pocket Hammerless (1903)

The Pocket Hammerless model (“pocket bezukurkovy”) completely corresponded to the Browning M1903 manufactured in Belgium , but differed from it in caliber and smaller size. It was produced in calibers of 7.65 mm (.32 ACP) and 9 mm (.380 ACP) from 1903 to 1945 in five slightly different versions. In total, about 570,000 copies were produced.

The M1903 Pocket Hammerless was popular with US Army generals. In particular, they owned George Smith Patton , Dwight David Eisenhower , George Marshall and Omar Bradley .

Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket (1908)
