Narrow-clove carnation [2] ( Latin: Dianthus leptopetalus ) is a species of dicotyledonous plants of the genus Carnation ( Dianthus ) of the Carnation family ( Caryophyllaceae ). First described by the German botanist Karl Ludwig Wildenov in 1809 [3] [4] .

Homeland - Southeastern Europe [5] . It spread from the Balkans to Western Siberia and Central Asia [6] .
Botanical Description
An annual or perennial plant up to 50-60 cm high [5] .
Stems erect, weakly branching, woody, pubescent at the base [5] .
Fruit - box [2] ; seeds of a dull blackish shade, compressed [5] .
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30 [5] [7] .
Environmental Situation
Narrow-cloves are listed in the Red Books of Astrakhan, Kurgan, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Samara, Ulyanovsk and Chelyabinsk Regions and the Republics of Bashkortostan and Kalmykia (Russia) [2] .
