Biography
Educated at Collège de Juilly . He married the daughter of a general farmer (collector of royal taxes and other indirect taxes on the purchase ), who was executed during the era of terror in the guillotine by order of the revolutionary tribunal of France.
He served as secretary to Charles-Francois Lebrun , secretary of the mission in Parma , sub-prefect of Autun (1802), prefect of the departments of Charente (1814) and Herault (1817).
In 1804 he was a member of the Legislative Corps , which established the First French Empire in France.
Since 1814 - Baron .
Creativity
He began as a poet, creating his poems under the influence of Juvenal poetry and works of A. Tassoni .
The author of a number of works, the main of which are three heroic poems, Amadis de Gaule ( Amadis Galsky ), Roland ( Roland ) and La Table ronde ( Knights of the Round Table , 1813).
He wrote comic performances and operas, of which the most famous are M. Des Chalumeaux " (1806) and " le Nouveau seigneur du village " (1813), comedy, " la Revanche et le Secret du ménage " ; "Les Annales d'une famille pendant 1800 ans" (1834).
Towards the end of his life, he published a trilogy entitled “Chivalry, or Medieval Stories”, which included his heroic poems and other poems about the romantic era of chivalry ( “Odéides”; “les Aventures du Cid” ).
