Nikishin Alexander Alekseevich ( September 2, 1895 , Baku - March 10, 1939 ) - one of the "builders" of the domestic oil industry and higher oil education in the country - the first rector of the Azerbaijan Oil Institute , later the rector of the Moscow Petroleum Institute. I.M. Gubkin .

Biography
The main dates of life and work:
- 1895 - September 2 in Baku (Balakhani) Alexander Alekseevich Nikishin was born in the family of an oil worker.
- 1902-1917 - Study in the parish school, working as a student locksmith, and then - a locksmith in the oil-field mechanical workshops; study in a technical school, work in mechanical workshops as a draftsman (the exact dates of this period of life of A. A. Nikishin have not been established).
- 1917 - Membership in the RCP (b).
- 1918 - The Red Army "Iron Regiment"
- 1919-1920 - Turkestan Front - Instructor of the Central Committee of the RCP (b). (Tashkent, Fergana region). As part of the 11th Army he entered Baku.
- 1920 - Appointed head of org. Department of the Azerbaijan Council of Trade Unions.
- 1921 - Included in the delegation of Azerbaijan trade unions at the IV All-Russian Congress of Trade Unions. Meeting with V.I. Lenin. Elected to the post of secretary of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Council.
- 1922 - Elected to the Transcaucasian Bureau of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions (at the 1st Transcaucasian Congress of Trade Unions); elected chairman of the Union of Miners of Azerbaijan.
- 1926 - Appointed head of the agitation and propaganda department of the Baku Committee of the AKP (b).
- 1926 - Elected delegate to the XV Conference of the CPSU (b).
- 1928 - Elected secretary of the Baile-Bibi-Heybat regional committee of the AKP (b).
- 1929 - Appointed director of the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (IPA), soon transformed into the Azerbaijan Oil Institute (ANI)
- 1932 - Graduated from the (extern) oilfield faculty of ANI.
- 1933 - Appointed director of the Oil Geological Prospecting Institute (NGRI) of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Leningrad)
- 1934 - Appointed and. about. Director of the Moscow Oil Institute. I.M. Gubkin.
- 1937 - Freed from office for health reasons. Personal pensioner.
- 1938 - Arrested by the NKVD (October).
- 1939 - Shot as an “enemy of the people.” He was buried in a common grave number 1 at the Don Cemetery.
- 1956 - Posthumously rehabilitated.
