- 2000-2004 - Advisor to the Permanent Mission of the DPRK to the United Nations in New York
- 2004-2005 - Senior Researcher, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK
- 2005-2006 - Head of the Institute for Peace and Disarmament of the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- 2006—2011 - DPRK Ambassador to Great Britain
- 2011—2014 - Chief Director of the Ministry of National Association Affairs
Since February 28, 2014 - Permanent Representative of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the United Nations , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Nations [2]
