Ship Description

Flat-bottomed sailing and rowing vessels of coastal navigation. One-, two- and three-masted rods were built, equipped with Latin sails [2] .

Application

They were used primarily for short - sea swimming as transport ships, and were also used for transportation of goods along rivers and lakes. Sometimes used as military transport ships and could carry several guns on board.

Ships of this type were used in the Russian fleet at the beginning of the 18th century , they were built in large numbers for the Baltic Fleet, single pieces were part of the Caspian flotilla, and a number of captured vessels captured from the Swedes were also used [2] [3] .
