Atlanto-Baltic Anthropological Type

The Atlanto-Baltic anthropological type is a small race (anthropological type) as part of the large Caucasoid race [1] . It is characterized by very light pigmentation of the skin , eyes and hair , a long nose , mesokephaly , a strong development of the tertiary hairline , and high growth . Distributed in the UK , Scandinavian countries , Latvia , Poland , Estonia , the Netherlands and Northern Germany [2] .

It differs from a very similar White Sea-Baltic race with a larger height and a smaller face width, a straight nose, a large stature, a slightly darker pigmentation and a large growth of a beard and mustache [3] .

It is allocated only at the population approach , not identical to the Nordic race of the typological approach . Highlighted by N. N. Cheboksarov ( 1951 ) , is present in the textbook of anthropology by Ya. Ya. Roginsky and MG Levin as the “Atlanto-Baltic minor race” [4] [5] .

V.P. Alekseev in his book “The Geography of Human Races” ( 1974 ) presented a racial classification scheme in which the West Baltic group of populations of the Baltic or North European local race corresponds to the Atlant-Baltic race [6] .

In the classification of VV Bunak ( 1980 ), the Atlantic race and the Baltic race are separately included in the European racial branch of the western racial trunk [7] . In this classification, the Atlantic race is a synonym for the Atlanto-Baltic race of other classifications [8] .
