Organizer ( English organizer ) - initially a small book containing a calendar , address book and notepad , used to organize information about personal contacts and events. With the development of information technology, the book began to be replaced first with electronic organizers, then handheld personal computers , computer programs and online organizers with additional functions: a reminder of upcoming events, protection and synchronization of information .
Organizer is a time management tool. Preliminary business planning helps to increase the fruitfulness of any activity, both personal and professional. Therefore, the person who advises organizations and individuals in the field of improving the effectiveness of time management is also sometimes called the "organizer"; in the United States there is a National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO).
In the XXI century, the organizer more often means software for PCs and mobile devices .
Organizer software
The organizer program is a computer program related to application software and designed to accumulate user information , and then quickly search for it, organize affairs and monitor their implementation, and track user- defined events. It is one of the forms of a personal organizer . Their undoubted advantages are a large amount of input data, the installation of automatic reminders. Organizer forms may vary. There are, for example, highly specialized organizers: recipes organizer, finance organizer, music collection organizer.
The functions of a typical computer organizer program are related to the operation of the following subsections:
- Calendar
- contact manager (user address and phone book );
- notebook and note sheets (analogue of paper sticky notes);
- Events tied to a specific date and time (for example, holidays or meetings);
- a scheduler of tasks (tasks) to control their independent or third-party implementation;
- reminders, alarms about user-defined events.
Some organizing programs may either not have any of the listed subsections, or provide additional functionality, for example, allow you to work with e-mail , thus acting as an email client .
The online organizer differs from the organizer program in that it is not installed on the local computer.
