Arats ( Mong. Ard - the worker, the people) - the socio-ethnic community of Mongolian peasant nomads. Live in Mongolia, China. The main occupation is cattle breeding. Before the 1921 revolution, the arats made up 92.2% of the population of Mongolia, owned 50.5% of the livestock population. Arats living in China are considered part of the population of the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia , as well as the provinces of Xinjiang and Qinghai . Rural residents of the Republic of Tyva (RF) are also called arats.
