Biography
Born on June 12, 1828 in Ljubljana in the family of the lawyer Blaž Crobath , she was the eldest child. [one]
She studied at a private institution Fröhlichov , where in addition to the usual education of girls, she gained knowledge in Romance languages and literature. 1844 was the beginning of her poetry, she wrote in Slovenian and German. [2] Fran Levstick , a Slovenian writer , playwright and critic, had a great influence on Louise and her contemporaries.
After the death of her father, in 1848, Louise married the rich merchant and entrepreneur Simon Pesjak ( Slovenian. Simon Pesjak ), they had five daughters. In the family they spoke German and French.
She took up literary activity earlier - in 1840, and also wrote in German. Her Poetische Versuche dates from 1843-1844. She was fluent in English. After 1860, Louise Pesyak became a member of the Slovenian national movement and began to write patriotic works. The first of them, with the name Kar ljubim, was written in 1864 and published in Bleiweisovih novicah . She wrote books for children. Of her works of these years, Očetova ljubezen (Novice, 1864), Dragotin (Slovenski glasnik, 1864), Beatin dnevnik (book, 1887), Rahela (Letopis Matice slovenske, 1870) can be noted. Also published in other publications. In a later period of life, Louise Pesyak was attracted by romantic and love affairs.
She died on March 1, 1898 in Ljubljana. The lifetime portrait of the writer was created by the Slovenian artist Mikhail Stroy , later published on the postage stamp of Yugoslavia.
