Biography

Ustin Filippovich Kilin was born into a peasant family in the village of Kilinsky of the Kuznetsk district of Tomsk province (currently Novokuznetsk district of the Kemerovo region. He graduated from the 2nd grade of the school. He worked in the Krasnoyarsk Territory at the Staronikolaevsky mine.

In August 1941, he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army by the North Yenisei District Military Commissariat of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Since November 1942 on the fronts of World War II .

In the battle for the village of Laukhino, Kilin worked as a loader and a carrier of shells as part of the calculation. Under continuous enemy fire, he ensured the uninterrupted delivery of shells to the gun’s position by Order of the 370th Infantry Division of July 2, 1944, he was awarded the medal “For Courage” .

From July 18 to July 28, 1944, gunner Junior Sergeant Kilin, while forcing the Western Bug River in the vicinity of the village of Husynne ( Poland ), directly fired several cannon fire points and ensured a successful battery operation with direct fire. When the city was captured, Helm broke into one of the first in the city, captured two enemy soldiers, destroyed 2 machine-gun points, a car and an anti-tank gun. By order of 370 rifle division of August 24, 1944, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

When the enemy broke through the defense on January 14, 1945, near the settlement Sosnuv east of Radom, Junior Sergeant Kilin suppressed the enemy firing point and destroyed several enemy soldiers. By order of the 69th army of February 22, 1945 he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On March 10, 1945, the younger sergeant Kilin in the battle north of Lebus broke his bunker with the fire of his guns and burned down 2 houses with enemy soldiers seated in them. By order of the 370th Infantry Division of April 8, 1945, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star .

On April 16, 1944, Junior Sergeant Kilin in a battle on the left bank of the Oder River, 6 km north of the city of Frankfurt an der Oder, destroyed a bunker, put down a machine gun, and destroyed over 10 enemy soldiers. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

Senior Sergeant Kilin was demobilized in October 1945. He worked at a coal mine in the Kirov region , at a timber rafting in Tuva . In 1957 he moved to the village of Chuguevka in the Chuguevsky district of Primorsky Krai . He worked as a fireman, a carpenter. In 1987 he settled in Vladivostok .

Ustin Filippovich Kilin died on July 20, 2002.

Memory

  • He was buried at the Vladivostok Sea Cemetery.
  • A memorial plaque was installed on the house along Borisenko Street, where Kilin lived.
