History

On January 18, 1935, the 4th collective farm theater in the Moscow region was opened with the performance “Albina Megurskaya” based on the play by Shapovalenko in Mikhailov, Moscow Region.
The theater was created on the basis of the theater team of the Frunze House of Education Workers, which was directed by Sergey Nikolaevich Sverchkov, artist of the Moscow Art Theater. M. Gorky .

The name of A.N. Ostrovsky (the great Russian playwright and one of the reformers of the Russian stage) was given to the theater, since the master of the Ostrovsky House troupe - the Maly Theater, actress and teacher Vera Nikolaevna Pashennaya was at its origins.

On September 12, 1942, the theater was renamed the Moscow Regional Collective Farm Drama Theater. A. Ostrovsky.

In 1993, the Theater. A. Ostrovsky moved to the building of the Moscow Regional House of Arts (MODI) in the territory of the current Southeast District in ( Kuzminki ).

In 2013, two regional theaters merged: the Moscow Regional Drama Theater. A.N. Ostrovsky and Moscow Regional State Chamber Theater . The newly created theater was called the Moscow Provincial Theater ; its artistic director is People's Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Vitalievich Bezrukov [2] .
