Biography
Sergey Klimnyuk was born on January 14, 1976.
He achieved the first serious success at an adult international level in 2000 when he entered the main team of the Ukrainian national team and visited the European Championship in Polish Poznan, from where he brought the bronze medal award won in the four-seater crews at a 200-meter distance. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he won the right to defend the country's honor at the Summer Olympics in Sydney - together with team-mate Dmitry Sablin managed to reach the final in twos at a distance of 500 meters, but in the decisive race showed only the eighth result.
After the Sydney Olympics, Klimnyuk remained in the main line-up of the rowing team of Ukraine and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 2003, he spoke at the World Championships in American Gainesville, where he became a bronze medalist in twos at two hundred meters. The last time showed any significant result in the 2006 season at the European Championship in the Czech Račice, when he became the bronze medalist in the two-hundred-meter race of two-seater crews. Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his career as a professional athlete, giving way to the team of young Ukrainian rowers.
For outstanding sporting achievements awarded the honorary title " Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class ."
