Temple History
On July 20, 2000, the newspaper Taganrogskaya Pravda published an appeal from professor of TRTU V. Timoshenko , rector of TSPI K. Kharuzhenko, writer I. Bondarenko , journalist Yu. Latka, honored artist of Russia I. Gritsenko and other representatives of the creative intelligentsia to the mayor of Taganrog Sergey Shilo and the church authorities, expressing particular concern about the current situation in the urban district "Russian Field". The authors of the appeal drew attention to what was the result of the etching of Christian ideals in Russia: a high level of crime and drug addiction, totalitarian sectarianism and prostitution with a complete absence of work with youth. The appeal ended with the appeal of the foundation in the Russian Field microdistrict of the Orthodox parish with an active social program for solving the aforementioned problems.
This idea was actively supported by the Russian Orthodox Church, which proposed not only to build a church, but also to make it a center for spiritual rehabilitation of the inhabitants of the Russian field. The practical implementation of this task was undertaken by priest Timofei Fetisov . On April 9, 2001, Father Timothy was officially appointed to the spiritual and administrative care of the parish by Archbishop Panteleimon of Rostov and Novocherkassk . In memory of the first temple of Taganrog , it was decided to name the constructed shrine in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity. In early 2001, the board of trustees of the temple was formed. The most active members of the council were professor of TRTU Vladimir Timoshenko and a member of the Union of Journalists Yulia Latka.
With the blessing of the Archbishop of Rostov and Novocherkassk Panteleimon , June 8, 2003, the laying and consecration of a place for the construction of the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity took place. May 25, 2004 the iconostasis was installed. On May 30, 2004, on the patronal feast of the temple on the day of the Holy Trinity, the first small worship service was performed - an akathist to the Holy Life-Giving Trinity. On July 3, 2004, with the blessing of the Archbishop of Rostov and Novocherkassk Panteleimon, the church was consecrated with a prayer of renewal.
On July 4, 2004, the first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the newly-built church.
